Pedestrian Struck, Killed In South Jersey

A 67-year-old pedestrian was struck and killed in Gloucester County, authorities said.

On Monday, Aug. 12 at approximately 12:05 a.m., Harrison Township Police Department was dispatched to area of Mullica Hill Road and the Route 55 overpass in reference to a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle.

A 2011 International 4000 box truck, operated by a 20-year-old male resident of Dover, Delaware, was traveling westbound on Mullica Hill Road when it struck a pedestrian who was walking along the westbound shoulder of the roadway, police said.

The pedestrian was identified as Joseph Logrande of Tampa, Florida, police said. Logrande was transported to Inspira Medical Center of Mullica Hill, where he eventually succumbed to his injuries, police said.

The investigation is being conducted by Sergeant Kurt Pflugfelder who was assisted on-scene by Sergeant Matthew Neely, Corporal Patrick Morris, and Patrolman Gregory Germscheid. 

Other assisting agencies included the New Jersey State Police, Gloucester County EMS, Harrison Township Fire District, and the Mantua and Woolwich Township Police Departments.
